RCRating Confidence
A 0–100% band that says how reliable a player’s rating is — confidence grows with every match, capping out around 50 matches.
Formula
confidence = min(1, matches_played / 50)Example
A player with 12 logged matches has 12 / 50 = 24% rating confidence — their rating is directional, not definitive.
Why it matters
Rating without confidence is misleading. A 5.500 player with 4 matches is not the same as a 5.500 player with 80 — confidence keeps that honest on the leaderboard.
In depth
A rating built on three matches is a guess. A rating built on fifty is a measurement. Confidence captures that difference: it starts near zero for a new player and ramps linearly up to 1.0 (100%) as they play more matches.
Public pages show the rating with a confidence dot or band so viewers know to weight unfamiliar ratings carefully. Internally, confidence can be used to scale the K-factor — fewer-match players move further per match, settled players move less.
