DIFFPoint Differential
DIFF is total points scored minus total points allowed across every game the player has logged — the cleanest tiebreaker on the leaderboard.
Formula
DIFF = total points for − total points againstExample
A player with 256 PF and 198 PA across 12 matches: 256 − 198 = +58.
Why it matters
A negative DIFF on a winning record means the player wins close and loses big — they’re overperforming, and rating-based projections will mark them down. DIFF is the leading indicator.
In depth
In pickleball, a 2-0 sweep at 11–4 / 11–6 is dramatically better than 2-1 at 11–9 / 9–11 / 11–9 even though both count as one match win. Point differential captures the dominance the WIN% column misses.
DIFF tiebreaks standings when two teams or players share a record. ArcStat aggregates points-for and points-against across every game inside every match, not just the match-deciding games.
